Three things I'm thinking about

Three things I'm thinking about this a.m.
  1. First, yes indigo, (from previous comments) I am feeling fear. Part of that is because I keep hearing or reading horror stories of people getting kicked out of their communities. I also don't know if I can defend myself. But I remind myself I do know people who love me no matter what. I know my community's judgments so well I can hear in my head all the things they would say. People say I am quite brave. I do brave things often. However, in this area, today at least, fear is stronger.

  2. Second, I think once in a snoopy cartoon or some old school movie I saw a kissing booth. I wish such a thing existed today. It sounds so innocuous and would give me a chance to surify (I know that's not a word) that which I suspect. Probably this is my brave risk taking side talking. Wish there was such a thing.

  3. And third, I am thinking about going to this bible study. . . probably it would be good for me. It would be a totally bold, brave, risk taking move for me. . . I am just thinking about it still though.
Claiming the Promise Bible Study starts January 16th! The RSG committee (Religion, Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity) is sponsoring a wonderful Bible Study that will begin with an organizational meeting on January 16th at 7pm. Claiming the Promise is a Bible study that was commissioned by the Reconciling Ministries Network (RMN) many years ago and is still a significant resource for re-claiming the historical context for Biblical references to homosexuality. From the RMN website (http://www.rmnetwork.org/ctp.php):

Claiming the Promise Bible Study: An Ecumenical Welcoming Bible Study Resource on Homosexuality

Claiming the Promise is a ground-breaking, curriculum on the Bible and homosexuality.
  • Examines biblical references to same-sex conduct in light of the broader biblical message which
  • affirms we are children or heirs of the Promise.
  • Explores biblical authority and biblical interpretation.
  • Discusses "gracious hospitality," "gift-ed sexuality," and "inclusive holiness."
  • Tackles hard questions of "right relationship," lust/love, and sexual responsibility.
  • Calls us to live out the Promise as reconciling disciples.
  • The study books will be available for $4.50 and a leader’s guide is $9.95. You get to keep the book and have this resource available to you anytime.

That's totally cool! I'd go with you to support you, but the ground transportation would kill me. Keep us posted. - Zu
